Physical and Lameness Exams
During our standard exam, we’ll review your horse’s medical history, check his heart, lungs, abdominal sounds, muscle condition, gait, eyes and mouth. We’ll make recommendations for optimal care and diet, and ensure your horse is current on vaccinations. Lameness evaluations are more detailed exams concentrating on abnormalities in your horse's various gaits.
We provide high quality reproductive care from general breeding management to assisted reproductive technology. In addition to working with your mare or stallion, we provide foal and neonatal care.
Chiropractic and Rehabilitation
Because Western Prairie Equine Service is dedicated to finding the best treatment plan for your horse, Dr. Harris offers alternative therapies that have demonstrated their value when used in combination with conventional equine medicine. Integrated medicine is an excellent option for equine athletes, chronic conditions, and geriatric care.
Dr. Kris Harris and our staff are always continuing their education to keep up on the latest breakthroughs in diagnostic testing. A variety of testing is available.
- Blood panels

Deworming and Treatment for Internal Parasites
Unfortunately, all horses are susceptible to worms and other internal parasites. Regular deworming is a crucial part of your horse’s health. We’ll review your current regimen of deworming medications and possibly prescribe new ones.
Treatment for Infectious Diseases
We strive to avoid serious problems before they happen. Many diseases may be prevented by administering vaccinations. Nonetheless, if your horse does contract an infectious disease, such as influenza, we can deliver state-of-the-art treatment to minimize damage and restore health.
Treatment for Injury or Trauma
When your horse has an accident and suffers an injury or other trauma, Western Prairie Equine Service is there for you. Whether it’s a head injury, broken bone, wound or exertional rhabdomyolysis, we’ll prescribe the best medications and therapies to keep your horse comfortable and speed up the healing process.
Western Prairie Equine Service accepts cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Discovery and American Express. Collecting payment at the time services are rendered helps us keep our costs down for all our patients.
